Very hardy perennial grass like plant. Fleshy rhizomatous roots are excellent for holding banks together, dense strappy foliage is perfect habitat for frogs and invertebrates. Pretty blue flowers are held above the foliage on long stems that sway in the wind attracting pollinating insects. Edible blue berries with a mild sweet flavour.
